SecureFlight: Safety on the Fly
The Secure Flight (SF) Initial Operation Capability (IOC) program is successor system to the Airline-operated Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System (CAPPS), and consistent with a recommendation of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States (9/11 Commission). The Department of Homeland Security continued forward with a next generation system of domestic passenger prescreening, called "Secure Flight", which prescreens airline passengers using information maintained by the Federal Government about individuals known or suspected to be engaged in terrorist activity and certain other information related to passengers' itineraries, specifically, passenger name record (PNR) data.
